Lawyer Jacques Despatis


Originally from Ottawa, Jacques Despatis obtained his Common Law degree from the University of Ottawa. He opened his law office in December 1991. His practice has touched many areas of law, including criminal law, family law, child protection and immigration and refugee law. Jacques Despatis has a wide experience to appear before the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Federal Court of Canada and the majority of provincial courts in Ontario.

During an extended stay in New Zealand, Jacques Despatis completed a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution, with specialization in mediation. He held the position of mediator at the prestigious University of Otago in Dunedin. Since his return in 2001, Jacques Despatis has practiced exclusively in the field of immigration and refugee law matters. He has represented people from all parts of the world dealing with a broad variety of legal issues. With his team, he offers quality services based on years of experience.

Married and father of two wonderful children, Jacques Despatis has taken part in many community activities that raise funds for local charitable organisations. He is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Ana Raquel is originally from El Salvador. She came to Canada with her family in 2001.

Ana Raquel finished the legal assistant program of the Algonquin College in 2007. She furthered her education by completing an office administration certificate from the same College in Ottawa. She is a valuable member to the team and has been working for the law firm since January 2010. Being perfectly bilingual (Spanish-English) Ana Raquel has proven to be a point of reference for the Hispanic community of the region. She is also an active member of the Parish of the Sagrada Familia in Ottawa.
